‘Jhimma’ to return to theatres to celebrate Women’s day
Very rarely have we seen a hit film returning to theatres to celebrate an occasion. ‘Jhimma’ a super hit Marathi film of last year, will be returning to theatres on 8th March 2023 to celebrate Women’s day. This announcement has been made by the makers of this film through an official press release to media.
It may be recalled that this entertaining women oriented film starring Nirmiti Sawant, Suhas Joshi, Kshiti Jog, Suchitra Bandekar, Sonalee Kulkarni, Sayali Sanjeev, Mrunmayee Godbole and Siddharth Chandekar in the lead roles had inspired many women, who came out of their houses to watch this film in cinema halls all over Maharashtra.
Speaking about this repeat release, producer Kshiti Jog says, “I have developed a special emotional attachment with this film, so much so that I would like to watch this film in theatres once again along with my friends. Those women who saw this film, not only planned their trip along with their friends, but also shared their experiences on social media.”
‘Jhimma’ celebrates successful 100 days
‘Jhimma’ was the first Marathi film to be released in theatres after lifting of lockdown restrictions in the state of Maharashtra. Today, this film is celebrating its 100 days run in theatres, in spite of 50 % attendance. Incidentally, the film was also released on Amazon Prime OTT platform from 21st January 2022. However, the response from audience in theatres is still very good, which is a good news for Marathi films.
On Amazon Prime, ‘Jhimma’ is trending and is among the first five films. This blockbuster film has already made collection of Rs. 15 Crores and is running in its 15th week. Directed by Hemant Dhome, this film is presented by Chalchitra Company and produced by Amey Vinod Khopkar Entertainment and Crazy Few Films. While celebrating the success of this film producer of this film Kshiti Jog said, “ Jhimma was released at a time, when people were worried about the future of Marathi films after lifting the lockdown in theatres. But, we dared to release this film and open the doors for Marathi theatres in cinema halls once again. Today, we are happy to see the good response. I am grateful to my entire team and the Marathi film lovers for their support.”
Double celebration for ‘Jhimma’
Marathi film ‘Jhimma’ which was released on 19th November 2021 is celebrating 75 days successful celebration in theatres. At the same time, the film has also been released on OTT platform and is rated as one of the best entertaining films on Amazon Prime network. This was the only Marathi film which saw the success in theatres, in spite of the restriction of 50% attendance in cinema halls.
What is good about this film is that it has been offered keeping in mind the most important factor of pure entertainment. No wonder, on the 50th day of its theatre run, the film celebrated success in 90 cinema halls. The film has already made box office collection of Rs. 14.50 Crores. Moreover, the film has also inspired many women to plan their trips joining women groups.
Speaking about his film’s success, director Hemant Dhome says, “I am really thankful to the audience for making this film a super hit. During the past two years, we faced a lot of problems but finally we have witnessed the success.”

“I am very excited about release of ‘Jhimma’ in theatres”- Hemant Dhome
Hemant Dhome directed film ‘Jhimma’ will be the first Marathi film to be released in theatres after reopening of the cinema theatres after the long lockdown period. And therefore, there is a lot of curiosity among the Marathi film lovers about this film. Recently, the makers of this film Amey Vinod Khopkar Entertainment , Crazy Few Films , presenters Chalchitra Company and director Hemant Dhome released the trailer of this film in a preview theatre in Mumbai, to give a feel of cinema hall to the invited media persons.
Speaking on this occasion, director Hemant Dhome said, “After a long period of lockdown, cinema halls are opening for filmlovers and going to cinema halls is safe now. And therefore, to remove the fear of corona from the minds of people and encourage them to go and watch the film in theatres, we organised the release of trailer in this preview theatre. This is the third film shot in London which is directed by me. I am therefore, very excited about the release of this film. In this film you will find women from different age groups who are talented artistes. Being a multi starrer film, we all had a great fun during shooting .
