Sharad Ponkshe to play a villain in ‘Aakrandan’
Known for his memorable performances through variety of roles on stage, television and big screen, actor Sharad Ponkshe will now be seen as a strong villain in forthcoming Marathi film ‘Aakrandan’, which is due for release on 29th November 2019. Produced by Govind Aher and presented by Vivek Pandit’s Vande Mataram Films, this film is directed by Shashikant Deshpande.
Speaking about his character of Rajabhau in the film Aakrandana, Sharad Ponkshe says, “I am playing the younger spoilt bad brother of a Village Sarpanch, who is into all wrong doings. He has terrorised people in village with his atrocities on women and illegal acts. I have used my own style to portray this villain differently. Through this film the makers of this film have handled a very sensitive subject of caste politics.”
In this film along with Sharad Ponkshe many versatile artistes are performing in this film. They are, Upendra Limaye, Vikram Gokhale, Milind Inamdar, Ganesh Yadav, Bal Dhuri, Tejashree Pradhan, Amita Khopkar, Pradeep Velankar, Uday Tikekar, Bharat Ganeshpure, Vilas Ujavane, Pallavi Wagh & Sneha Biranje. Director Shashikant Deshpande has himself written the story of this film. And has written the screenplay and dialogues along with Milind Inamdr. Bollywood’s Damodar Nayadu is cinematographer of this filmwith editing by Manoj Sankla.
Award winning directors combine to offer ‘Institute of Pavtology’
‘Institute of Pavtology’ is the unique name of forthcoming Marathi film, shooting schedule of which was launched recently. Directed by award winning director duo – ‘Ranga Patanga’ and ‘Video Parlour’ fame Prasad Namjoshi and ‘Redu’ fame Sagar Vanjari are coming together for the first time to offer this film, which is produced by Neha Gupta, Prasad namjoshi and Navalkishore Sarda.
The film is based on the story of Environmental Researcher Santosh Shintre and at present the shooting of this film is going on in and around Pune . Highlight of this film is that 140 artistes will be part of this film, including some well known artistes. The director duo have decided to release this film in April next year and according to them it will offer a lot of entertainment.
However, they have not disclosed the reason behind this title of their film and the names of the artistes have also not been disclosed. But, they are confident that the subject handled in this film is new and has not been taken by any film maker so far.
Sangram Samel to star in ‘Vicky Velingkar’
Known for his memorable role in the film ‘Braveheart’ and few Marathi serials ‘Undga’ ‘Lalit 205′ and Marathi plays like ‘Ekach Pyala’, ‘Kusum Manohar Lele’, Marathi actor Sangram Samel will now be seen in an important role in forthcoming Marathi film ‘Vicky Velingkar’ which is getting ready for release on 6th December 2019. Sangram will be sharing the screen for the first time with actress Sonalee Kulkarni.
Speaking about this film, Sonalee says, “I am really delighted that I got an opportunity to work in this film. I have worked with Sangram for the first time and I really enjoyed working with him. In this film, Sangram plays a very close friend of Vickky and his friendship is like helping his friend through his heart.In the film Sangram plays a hacker.”
Actually ‘Vicky Velingkar’ is a salesperson of watches and she comes across a strange experience. How she overcomes all these problems is what the story of this film is all about. In this film Spruha Joshi is also playing an important character of Vidya along with other artistes like Vinita Kharat, Ketan Singh, Jui Pawar, Gaurav More and Rama Joshi.

‘Girlz’ break open the cage to experience their new world
Since the time of its launch, forthcoming Marathi film ‘Girlz’ has generated a lot of curiosity among the film lovers. Then we saw the poster release followed by release of its teaser . And now, the trailer of this film has just been released to raise more interest among the film lovers. Story of this film written by Hrishikesh Koli revolves around three girls namely Matee, Rumi and Magie, who come from different background. But, when they come together , their growing friendship changes their way of looking at life. Defining friendship this film is therefore expected to entertain the film lovers. According to the makers the film’s highlight is the conversation and dialogues exchanged among them which they indicate as ‘Girlz Talk’.
The film stars Ankita Lande, Ketaki Narayan, Anvita Phaltankar in lead roles along with prominent artistes like Devika Daftardar, Parth Bhalerao, Atul Kale, Amol Deshmukh, Sulbha arya & Kishori Ambiye and others. ‘Sur Taal Karoake Club’ have organised singing competition at Vile Parle.
Karaoke which was developed in Japan has come as a big boon for amateur singers in India for making it convenient for them to sing with recorded music using a microphone. But, if this happens in front of the positively responding audience, the singer gets a boost. Keeping this in mind ‘Sur Taal Karoake Club’ have organised this popular competition for singers at Vile Parle.
The intention of the organisers is to encourage amateur singers , some of whom are from the working class, but are passionate about their hobby of singing. In fact ‘Sur Taal karoake’ Club have offered a platform for these singers to get recognition as singers. Who knows ? Tomorrow there could be good singer emerging from these contestants. Reputed personalities like Avinash Kharshikar, Nanu Gurjar along with Anand Deodhar will represent the audience in the form of Judges for this contest.

Smita Tambe’s fourth film ‘Gadhul’ to be screened at 50th IFFI
This will be the 50th Golden Jubilee year of Indian International Film Festival and therefore it has a special significance. The audience will have the finest opportunity to watch some best films at this festival. And actress Smita Tambe has a good news for her. Her film ‘Gadhul’ has been selected in Non Feature film section of Indian Panorama at this forthcoming film festival.
Smita has a connect with IFFI during the past few years, as her previous films like ‘Dhoosar‘, ‘Rukh‘, ‘Pangira’, were also screened at this festival. This will be her fourth film to be screened at this prestigious Indian International Film festival and it is a great honour for the talented actress. Speaking about her experience with IFFI, Smita says, “When I participated in this film festival for the first time, I didn’t know the vast importance of this event. But, soon I realised it was a big hub for film lovers. You get an opportunity to meet some renowned film makers from different parts of the world. Actress Pallavi Patil celebrates her birthday with orphans
A new trend has already been set by some of our Marathi actresses, who have become aware of their duty to the society. ‘Triple Seat’ fame Actress Pallavi Patil who made a grand debut through super hit Marathi film ‘Classmates’ , is also following the footsteps of her seniors. She is already associated with many social organisations. Recently, Pallavi celebrated her birthday with orphans from Mumbai.
Speaking about her fine gesture, Pallavi says, “I regularly visit and work for social organisations in Jalgaon and Pune . And therefore on my birthday I am either at these two places or at my village with my parents. But, this time since I was busy with my work in Mumbai, I decided to celebrate my birthday with orphans from a social organisation in Mumbai. It was a pleasure meeting these children and their teachers at Vatsalya , which gave me enough energy to work till my next birthday. These children rendered songs for me , which was also a memorable experience for me.”
‘Apsara Dhara’ Konkani Children’s film for Kolkatta Film Festival
Konkani language is very close to our Marathi language. In fact it is also spoken in some of our Marathi films, set on the backdrop of Konkan region. Known for his successful films like ‘Jnaa Manaa’ and ‘Aa Vai Ja sa’ in Konkani language Dr. Ramesh Kamath from Bangalore has now made his new Konkani film ‘Apsara Dhara’ which is based on the most important slogan of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’. The film is in news, because the story, screenplay and direction is by Dr. Kamath himself.
‘Apsara Dhara’ is the first Konkani film shot in Egypt and some of the scenes have been picturised in 3D format. The theme of the film is on the simple principle ‘There is no short cut for success’ and therefore this film will be a worth watch for all children and their parents. Child artistes Master Sarthak Shenoy and Kumari Swati Bhatt from Mangalore are playing lead roles in this film, while popular film artiste Gopinath Bhatt and renowned stage artiste P. Rohidas nayak are playing eqully important role of Village Chief and Pinto Teacher respectively in this film.
The film has already been selected for screening at the Kolkatta Film Festival prior to its theatre release and will be screened on 14th November, the Children’s day.
