Producer of ‘Mauli’ Ashish Chowdhry has big plans for future
As an actor Ashish Chowdhry has experienced television and cinema. But now, joining hands with his close family friend Deepa Pardasany the duo have flagged off their new venture Hindustan Talkies. Incidentally, their production start off with Marathi film ‘Mauli‘ starring Riteish Deshmukh under the banner of Jio Studios. Incidentally, Rohit has acted with Riteish in the films ‘Dhamal‘ and ‘Double Dhamal‘ in the past. Before entering this production, both Ashish and Deepa had decided to create and support content-driven regional and commercial cinema.
“We are willing to back new writers as long as we feel they have a strong content. Also, the opening of online platform necessitates a gap to be filled. We will take our vision across platforms and regions,” says Deepa. While Ashish has to say, “At Hindustan Talkies, we are looking to invest in strong scripts. Both Deepa and I share a driven desire to make striking stories. Hence, when the opportunity came to co-produce with Riteish Deshmukh and Jio, it fit our vision perfectly. Also, it’s a delight to team up with market leaders like Mumbai Film Company and Jio Studios.”
In short, both of them have big plans for future. Hope their debut film achieves grand success.
Action packed film ‘Figght’ to release on 20th December
In our Marathi film industry we find very few film makers presenting action packed films. Now Jimmy Moray, a young action director from Pune is making his debut in film direction through forthcoming Marathi film ‘Figght‘ which is no doubt full of action. Produced by Lalit Oswaal, this film claims to have a strong subject with a team of newcomers and veteran artistes. Recently, a poster of this film was launched on social media.
This action packed film will be presenting an action hero Jeet More, who is found most suitable for this central role and his action scenes are handled by Fight Master Firoze Khan. Along with Jeet the other new artistes of this film are, Sayali Joshi, Nishigandha Kunte, Prasad Surve, Rahul Belapurkar, Anup Ingale, Mangesh Nande, Rahul Phaltankar & Karam Bhat. The seasoned artistes in the supporting roles are Madhav Abhyankar, Suresh Vishvakarma, Poorva Shinde, Kamal Thoke & Asif Ibrahim. Script by Swapnil Mahaling,lyrics by Mandar Cholkar, music by Swapnil Godbole are the other credits of this film, which will be released on 20th December 2018.
Trailer of ‘Mumbai Pune Mumbai-3′ released
‘Mumbai Pune Mumbai-3‘ which is the first Marathi film to have three sequels, is set to hit screens across the State on December 7. The Trailer of this much awaited sequel was recently released in Mumbai in the presence of the lead pair Swapnil Joshi & Mukta Barve. On this occasion Director Satish Rajwade, Producer Sanjay Chhabria, Everest Entertainment, Amit Bhanushali , Co-Producer, 52 Friday Cinemas and Nandu Ahuja of Eros International were present.

MPM has now become a cult, setting a trend of one of its kind love story and has become a habit with the audience. People are now more curious about the lives of Gautam and Gauri and relate themselves with the happenings in the lives of the couple. While shooting for ‘Mumbai Pune Mumbai’, we did not expect that we will go for a sequel. But, during the making of its second part we realized that there was a room for the third part as well. It would not be appropriate to reveal any more details about the film, but I can surely say that the third part too will prove to be equally successful.”
Sai Tamhankar is the first big star to perform Stand up Comedy
Sai Tamhankar has always been in the news for some or the other reason. Recently, we saw her performing in a web series . Then, we heard about her involvement in Wrestling Competition League, when she owned a team. And now, she has turned a Stand up Comedian. Sai recently, posted a video on instagram giving the information about her Stand up Comedy show at a particular venue in Thane on Sunday evening. We often find new artistes attempting such things to get noticed about their acting skills. This is what she has to say, ” I have always admired such shows and also the artistes performing in it. In my acting career, I have performed in few comedy films. But, this stand up comedy is something different.“
‘Kolhapur Diaries’ will be remake of Super hit Malayalam Film
Remakes of South Films is not new to Bollywood. Now, this style has also come to our Marathi films. Forthcoming Marathi film ‘Kolhapur Diaries‘ will be remake of Super hit Malayalam film ‘Angamaly Diaries‘. Recently, the first look of the lead actor of this film Bhushan Nanasaheb Patil was released on Digital media on the occasion of Bhushan’s birthday celebrations on 18th November. This look has received a lot of appreciation from Marathi film lovers.
Originally from Dhule, Maharashtra, Bhushan seems to be the perfect choice for this Marathi version and his selection for this role is already the topic of discussion. Joe Rajan who made his debut as a director through Bollywood film ‘Luv U Soniyo‘ few years ago is the director of this film and the film will be presented by Avadhoot Gupte. Now, it remains to be seen how this remake of Malayalam film will appeal to Marathi film lovers.
Sai Tamhankar’s new web series ‘Date With Saie’ to release next month
Having seen popular A listed Bollywood artistes like Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddique, R Madhavan, Bhoomi Pednekar in Web Series, now we will find popular Marathi actress Sai Tamhankar also following their footsteps. Sai will be playing her own self in this web series suitably titled ‘Date with Saie‘ . She will be the first actress to play her own self in the web series.
According to the makers of this series, Sai is being followed by her crazy fan , who is filming her movements on his mobile camera, in this so called thriller. Sai herself is very curious about this project and is eagerly waiting for its release next month. Reacting on this role, Sai says, “I have never played this type of character before and therefore it was a different experience to know how a fan can make your life miserable.” Incidentally, Sai is also playing a judge in an ongoing comedy show on Marathi television.

Varsha and Kishori come together in the Marathi play ‘Piano For Sale’
Both Kishori Shahane Vij and Varsha Usgaonkar were popular actresses of Marathi film industry during late 80s and 90s. Dealing with water conservation ‘Ek Hota Pani’ to release soon
Now days in Marathi films we find new writers and film makers presenting important social issues through their films. One such most important issue of water is being handled in forthcoming Marathi film ‘Ek Hota Pani‘, which has also highlighted the importance of water conservation. The shooting of this film is complete and presently the post production work is in progress. Recently, the new face in the film Sriya Mastekar completed her dubbing work at a studio, in presence of writer of the film Ashish Ningurkar and director Rohan Satghare.
The story of ‘Ek Hota Pani‘ film is set on the backdrop of a drought affected village. ‘Ani .. Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar’ stands tall in competition with other films
Gone are the days when Marathi films celebrated Silver Jubilee at popular Single screen theatres like Plaza, Bharatmata ( Mumbai) & Prabhat, BhanuVilas( Pune). Now, with the spread of Multiplex network, Marathi films are really finding it difficult to find screens. However, 9 years ago, when there was strike of Hindi film distributors, Marathi film like ‘Mee Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy‘ did a very good business, with availability of screens even at multiplexes.
Two years ago, when Marathi film ‘Sairat‘ was released, it did very good business, with housefull shows. The popularity of this film spread so fast that more and more multiplexes started offering their screens for this film. And this gave a big scare to Hindi film makers. In fact, Bollywood film maker Rohit Shetty did admit during a function of Marathi film that he went to see Film ‘Sairat‘ to see what was so special about this film.
Now, with the release of ‘Ani .. Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar‘ we once again noticed full house shows during the first week and with the ‘word of mouth’ publicity, the film attracted good response wherever it was released. Watching the response to this film, the theatre owners offered more shows to this film at multiplexes. Bollywood film ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ with big names lost its business in competition with this film especially in Mumbai and Pune. Best example is of City Pride Radhakrishna theatre at Ratnagiri. In this cinema theatre ‘Thugs of Hindostan‘ was released with three shows with only one show @ 12 noon for ‘Ani .. Dr.Kashinath Ghanekar‘. But, in just for days, i.e. on Tuesday ‘Ani .. Dr.Kashinath Ghanekar‘ was allotted 3 shows of prime time with only one show @12 noon for the Hindi film. Isn’t this a big victory for Marathi films in Maharashtra? In short, ‘Ani .. Dr.Kashinath Ghanekar‘ stood tall in competition with other films this Diwali.
