‘Jakkal’, a Marathi web-series based on the gruesome murder in Pune
Jio Studios is coming up with a Marathi web series called ‘Jakkal’ (जक्कल) . Based on a sensational murder case in Pune in the 1970s, the web show will explore when ordinary middle-class kids unknowingly turn to the path of crime and the extremes they can go to.
Director Vivek Wagh has been working on this topic for the last 4 years. Vivek Wagh has also received the National Award for ‘Best Investigative Documentary’ based on the same topic in 2020. The series is produced by Shivam Yadav and Karthiki Yadav of A Culture Canvas Entertainment Production.
During 1976 to 1977, two emergencies were imposed in a cultural city like Pune, one in Delhi and the other in Jakkal.
So , what is Jakkal beyond sensational murders, brutal murders? Is Jakkal last name? what about those 10 innocent people caught up in it? What is important is whether an artist was a murderer or a murderer was an artist by accident?
All this will be attempted in the upcoming web serial ‘Jakkal’.

Jio Studios announce their new action packed Marathi Web show – Kalsutra
Now days it does not matter whether you are making a film or a web show provided it has a gripping story. Forthcoming Marathi Web show ‘Kaalsutra’ announced by Jio Studios is based on Salil Desai’s bestseller novel ‘Murder Milestone’. It revolves around a honest Police officer and serial killer who has been declared guilty of eight murders and is on a death sentence. The producers of this serial are confident that the first season of this web show will be appreciated by the viewers.
This web series (Kalsutra) which is offered by Jio Studios and Manjiri Subodh Bhave in association with Kanha Production house and has a strong star cast comprising of versatile artistes like like Subodh Bhave, Sayaji Shinde, Anant Jog, Urmila Kanetkar Kothare, Bhau Kadam, Pushkaraj Chirputkar, Shubhankar Tawde, Umesh Jagtap and Ashwini Kasar.
Speaking about this show, Subodh Bhave said, “To play the role of lead Police officer in this show, which is based on a best seller book, was a big honour for me and I am confident that the viewers woul love to watch it. Most important thing is that though it is a web show, we have tried to present it on a big scale like a feature film.”
‘Rashtra’ will present Vikram Gokhale in a strong role
The presence of Vikram Gokale in a film invites the attention of film lovers, such is the popularity of this actor. Forthcoming Marathi film ‘Rashtra’ presents him as a dashing politician. This film makes a strong commentary on the current political situation. It focuses on the issue of reservation. Produced by Bunty Singh under the banner Inder International, this film is written, directed and edited by Inderpal Singh.
Along with Vikram Gokhale, the film also stars versatile artistes like Mohan Joshi, Rohini Hattangadi, Milind Gunaji, Reema Lagoo, Sanjay Narvekar, Ganesh Yadav and others. Apart from this, Minister Ramdas Athawale and Swabhimani Shetkari Sangathan’s Raju Shetty, two leaders who play an important role in Maharashtra politics, will also be seen playing roles on the big screen through ‘Rashtra’. Director Inderpal Singh feels that Vikram Gokhale, who has succeeded in making his mark in Hindi as well as Marathi, played an important character in ‘Rashtra’ and has helped to raise a very important issue in the society. Kedar Shinde to begin New year 2023 with ‘Baipan Bhari Deva’
Presented by Jio Studios, produced by Madhuri Bhosale, director Kedar Shinde has announced the release date of his new film ‘Baipan Bhari Deva’ on 6th January 2023. After ‘Ghe Double’ and ‘Godavari’, this is the third Marathi film to be presented by Jio Studios. This film is co produced by Bela Shinde and Ajit Bhure and will be dedicated to women. It is a story of six sisters who are separated while facing personal, family and financial problems.

Jitendra Joshi to pay tributes to Nishikant kamat through ‘Godavari’
Jitendra Joshi’s forthcoming film ‘Godavari’ has been in the news for inviting attention at various international film festivals. This film has also won some awards at these festivals. Jitendra himself has won Best actor Silver Peacock award at IFFI 2021. Director Nikhil Mahajan has won the best director’s award at Pune Int. This song is composed by Varun Likhate, sung by Shruti Rane with lyrics by Jai Atre. choreography of this song is by Rahul Sanjeer. Elnaaz Norouzi is an international model and a bollywood actress.
