Sujay Dahake is in search for Shyam for his next film ‘Shyamchi Aai’
Whenever there is a mention of Shyamchi Aai, we tend to remember the faces of Shyam and his mother played by little Madhav Vaze and actress Vanmala respectively in National award winning 1953 Marathi film ‘Shyamchi Aai’ . This film directed by Acharya Atre was based on the emotion filled story of Sane Guruji. Now, Sujay Dahake, who won the National award for his debut film ‘Shaala’ has also announced the film with the same title and has also released the poster of this film, which is also based on the Sane Guruji’s best selling novel.

Sujay has decided to make this film in Black and White and will be showcasing the pre-independence era. He and his team are presently busy searching statewide the right Maharashtrian boy to essay the character of Shyam in the film. This film will be produced by Amruta Arun Rao and will be directed by Sujay Dahake. They have also made a publicity brochure requesting for boys in the age group of 8 to 12 to perform a one minute monologue and email or WhatsApp it after recording on their mobile phones to the following email and phone number. Parents of the kids are requested to abide by the conditions set by the production company.
The last date for sending the video is December 30, 2021, after which the contest will come to an end. Out of the contestants, the production company will shortlist ten boys. They will be transported to Mumbai and asked to participate in a three-day acting workshop. Finally, one boy among the ten will be selected to play the role of Shyam in the film. The production company will notify the parents directly. Produced by Archana Borhade and co produced by Zulfi waris ( ABP Studios) ‘Karkhanisanchi Waari (कारखानिसांची वारी)’ is the latest Marathi film released on OTT platform –Sony Live. With script written by Archana Borhade and Mangesh Joshi and directed by ‘Lathe Joshi’ fame director Mangesh Joshi, this film revolves around Karkhanis joint family living in Pune.
After the death of head of this family (Pradeep Velankar), his close relatives after performing his last rites are on a road trip to Pandharpur via their ancestral house to immerse his ashes , as per his last wish. Five of them namely, brothers - Dr. Mohan Agashe, Pradeep Joshi, Ajit Abhyankar , sister- Geetanjali Kulkarni and son – Om ( Amey Wagh) are on their journey, travelling in their Omni- traveller . They are followed on her motor bike by Om’s girlfriend Madhura ( Mrunmayee Deshpande), who wants Om to disclose their relationship to his close relatives, as early as possible.
While this group is on their way to Pandharpur, the widow played by Vandana Gupte has other plans to meet her financial requirements. She takes another route to settle a score with mistress of her late husband, who lives in another town close to Pune. As writers, director and producers both Archana Borhade and Mangesh Joshi have focussed more on highlighting attitude of each important character existing in today’s materialistic world. They have presented this film in a funny way, to make the screenplay interesting. Happening of humour filled events during their journey and simultaneously showing the developments to unfold the mysterious life of the deceased have been captured very well. The interaction between Vandana Gupte and Shubhangi Gokhale has been presented very well.
The highlight of this film are the performances by all the artistes in important roles. They are so natural that sometimes you feel as if you are travelling along with them. Writer- producer Archana Borhade has also done her main job as a cinematographer extremely well while presenting the emotions of each one of the artistes in close up scenes, besides capturing their humour filled sequences in the outdoor. No wonder, this universal subject representing every age group well presented through this film, has invited the attention of film critics from different parts of the world, wherever the film was screened. Above all, this film has bagged one of the five best films’ award at Tokyo International film festival. This itself is a very good news for Marathi cinema.
Certainly a worth watch film for all. Don’t miss it.

Shrikant Sathe ( Swwapnil Joshi) a widower takes his seven year old son Mandar ( Samarth Jadhav) to a hospital , after his son faints on the cricket ground during a match. At this hospital, during his medical diagnosis, Mandar comes across Bhaskar a boy of his age, who is undergoing treatment for cancer. It is at this place Mandar learns about a mystery woman Elizabeth, from Bhaskar. Like Bhaskar, Mandar also starts believing that Elizabeth who lives in the next old building in the hospital campus, would only cure his ailment.
Mandar reveals the secret of Elizabeth to his father and insists that he should meet her. To make his son happy, Shrikant goes in search of Elizabeth in the adjacent building and discovers something strange. In the meanwhile Dr. Alisha Shenoy ( Pooja Sawant) who attends Mandar in the hospital, in absence of her ailing father, gets ready for Mandar’s operation. It is at this stage, Shrikant discovers the mystery behind Elizabeth and involvement of people in her case.
‘Bali’ (बळी) as the name suggests, does succeed in presenting a gripping screenplay, but there are few flaws in the film. However, the efforts taken by director Vishal Furia to present this suspense filled thriller under the cover of horror, are worth appreciating. Above all, the performances by Swwapnil, Pooja and little Samarth certainly add extra strength to this film with the support of good cinematography by Rajan Sohani and suitable background music by Rajan Patnail and Brince Bora.
For a change, ‘Bali’ is a worth watch film, provided you are not watching this film with very high expectations from this director. Produced by Arjun Singgh Baran and Kartik Nishandar this film Is released on Amazon Prime Video.
Marathi Web Series ‘Anuradha’ on OTT Platform
Recently there was a lot of talk about ‘Lipstick’ on social media. But now, it has come to notice that it was a part of promotion of new Marathi web series ‘Anuradha’ directed by Sanjay Jadhav. This is Sanjay’s first web series and therefore there is a lot of curiosity about this seven part web series which has been released on Planet Marathi OTT and Vistas Media Capital. This web series stars Tejaswini Pandit, Sonalee Khare, Sukanya Kulkarni Mone, Sachit Patil, Sushant Shelar, Vidyadhar Joshi, Snehalata Vasaikar, Sanjay Khapre, Aastaad Kale, Vijay Andalkar, Chinmay Shintre, Vrushali Chavan in lead roles.
The poster and teaser of this web series was held recently in presence of artistes and crew of this film. Produced by Hiralal Dafda and Aakash Dafda the script is written by Sanjay Jadhav and Vaibhav Chinchalkar. With music by Pankaj Padgham, the editing of this series is done by Apoorva Motiwale Sahay and art direction by Satish Chipkar. According to Planet Marathi OTT Chief, Akshay Bardapurkar, this web series is a suspense thriller. Director Sanjay Jadhav who is making his debut as a director in web series, is also excited to know, how the audience would respond to his work on a web series platform.
छगन भुजबळ यांच्या हस्ते ‘जिंदगानी’ चित्रपटाच्या पोस्टरचे अनावरण
नाशिक येथे चालू असलेल्या ९४व्या अखिल भारतीय मराठी साहित्य संमेलनात सन्माननीय कॅबिनेट मंत्री छगन भुजबळ यांच्या हस्ते ‘जिंदगानी’ या सामाजिक विषयावर आधारित आगामी चित्रपटाच्या पोस्टरचे अनावरण करण्यात आले. ‘जिंदगानी’ या चित्रपटाचं लेखन, दिग्दर्शन विनायक साळवे यांनी केले असून, निर्मिती सुनीता शिंदे यांनी नर्मदा सिनेव्हिजन्स या निर्मिती संस्थे मार्फत केली आहे. चित्रपटाने अनेक आंतरराष्ट्रीय आणि राष्ट्रीय चित्रपट महोत्सवात पुरस्कार मिळवले असून, आपल्या मातीतील प्रेक्षकांनाही तो आवडेल असा विश्वास निर्मात्यानी व्यक्त केलाय.
पोस्टर अनावरण सोहळ्यात छगन भुजबळ म्हणाले की, “नाशिकचे स्थानिक कलाकार आणि येथीलच तंत्रज्ञ यांच्या सहकार्याने या चित्रपटाची निर्मिती झाली असून त्याचा गौरव करण्यासाठी हा चित्रपट थिएटर मध्ये जाऊन सगळ्यांनी नक्की बघायला हवा”.
चित्रपटात प्रमुख भूमिकेत प्रयोगशील नट म्हणून ओळखले जाणारे शशांक शेंडे तर नवोदित अभिनेत्री वैष्णवी शिंदे हे कलाकार आहेत. त्यांच्या जोडीला सविता हांडे, सुष्मा सिनलकर, स्मिता प्रभू, सायली पाटील, अभिनेते विनायक साळवे, प्रदिप नवले, गणेश सोनवणे, प्रथमेश जाधव, रवि साळवे, सागर कोरडे, संजय बोरकर, दिपक तावरे, पांडुरंग भारती हे कलाकार आपल्याला दिसणार आहेत. विजय गवंडे यांनी चित्रपटातील गाणी संगीतबद्ध केलेली आहेत. तर चित्रपटातील गाणी अजय गोगावले, आदर्श शिंदे, बेला शेंडे, राधिका अत्रे, अमिता घुगरी यांच्या सुरमधुर स्वरांनी स्वरबद्ध करण्यात आली आहेत.
येत्या ११ फेब्रुवारीला हा चित्रपट संपूर्ण महाराष्ट्रात प्रदर्शित होत आहे.
Actor Mangesh Desai begins his second innings as a Producer
After establishing himself as an actor in all the three mediums of entertainment namely, Stage, television and feature films, Actor Mangesh Desai is all set to begin his second innings as a Film producer. Every actor has a dream to produce his own film but not all of them succeed in fulfilling their dream. Recently, after announcing his production company Sahil Motion, Mangesh had conducted selection trial for his film in Thane and it received an overwhelming response, with three different halls.
Speaking about his own production, Mangesh says, “After having performed as an actor, I wanted to attempt something new and hence I decided to produce this film. Like acting, producing a film is also equally challenging. Till now, I have sincerely acted portraying various types of characters and now I would like to apply the same sincerity to my new role as a producer.”
Till now, not much has been disclosed about this film, but the details will be revealed soon.

विकासचे म्हणणे आहे, मागील आठवड्यात आणि त्याआधी पण बोले होते. बाकी काही असलं तरी एकमेकांना loyal तरी आहेत. loyalty आली की तुमची जरा गडबड होते. सोनाली पाटील त्यावर म्हणाली, loyalty च्या बाबतीत मी मीनलवर कधीच अविश्वास दाखवणार नाही कारण आतापर्यंत ती फक्त आपल्यासाठी खेळली आहे, स्वत:साठी खेळली आहे. त्यामुळे अविश्वास दाखवणं, loyalty न दाखवणं हा विषय येतंच नाही. संभाषण सुरू असताना सोनालीने विकासला खडसावून सांगितले तू चेष्टेवारी घेणार असशील तर मी बोलत नाही. विकास त्यावर म्हणाला, तू आता दोन contradictory statement केलेस ना आता… सोनालीचे म्हणणे आहे ते महत्वाचे नाही आता मी बोलते महत्वाचे ते आहे. कुठेनाकुठे तू अविश्वास दाखवतो आहेस… आणि पुढे या दोघांची चर्चा अशीच सुरू राहिली.
Sai Tamhankar among the Top 10 Stars of IMDB’s Best of 2021
Internet Movie Database ( IMDB) recently declared their list of Top 10 Breakout stars of Indian films and web series 2021. In this list Marathi actress Sai Tamhankar finds her name. This is a big honour for this talented actress. Sai had recently performed variety of characters through three different language presentations like ‘Samantar’, ‘Navrasa’ and ‘Mimi’. And her performances enabled her to be considered in this list of IMDB’s Top 10.
Speaking about her achievement, Sai says,” ‘IMDB is a Global platform. They look at the performances from the artistic angle in such global cinemas and web series, with no language barrier. To be considered by them for this honour is a proud moment for me. I am extremely happy about it.”
