Prasad Oak to play title role of ‘Dharmaveer – Mu. Po. Thane’

Ever since the announcement of the film ‘Dharmaveer Mu. Po. Thane (धर्मवीर मु.पो. ठाणे)’ there was a lot of curiosity among people, as to who will play the title role Late Anand Dighe. But now, the curtain has been raised. It is now confirmed that Prasad Oak will be playing this title in this film, which will be presented by Zee Studios. To be directed by Praveen Vitthal Tarde, this film is produced by Mangesh Desai under his banner Sahil Motion Arts and Zee Studios together.

It may be recalled that Anand Dighe was a committed social worker and leader from Thane, who helped many poor and needy people fighting against injustice. Though he is not alive today, he remains in the hearts of several people from Thane. According to makers of this film, it was a big challenge to make a film on his life, but they have succeeded in their mission. This film on his life will now be released on 13th May all over Maharashtra.

Adinath Kothare to play ‘Daulat’ in ‘Chandramukhi’

Ever since the teaser of the film ‘Chandramukhi’ has been released, there has been curiosity to know who was playing the character of Daulat in this film, as the photo did not reveal the face clearly. Now, that curtain has been raised and the name of the actor has been announced as Adinath Kothare. ‘Chandramukhi’ is based on Vishwas Patil’s novel with the same name.

The film presents this strong character of Daulat Deshmane who as a leader was always there to help the people in need of justice. Produced by Akshay Bardapurkar, Planet Marathi, Golden Resho Films and presented by Creative Vibes productions, this film is directed by Prasad Oak with Screenplay and dialogues by Chinmay Mandlekar. According to the makers of this film, this film will be released in theatres.

Actor turned director Prasad Oak who offered quality films like ‘Kachha Limbu’ and ‘Hirakani’ is now arriving with his next big project ‘Chandramukhi’ on 29th April 2022. Teaser of this film was released recently, which indicated that it was a love story happening between An experienced politician and a glamorous Tamasha dancer. Surprisingly, the star cast of this film has been kept in abeyance till now.

Inspired by the ideology of Late Balasaheb Thackeray , Anand Dighe had established himself as the most efficient Shiv Sena leader in Thane region. Now, there will a biopic on the life of Anand Dighe, suitably titled ‘Dharmaveer (धर्मवीर)’ motion poster of which was launched on social media recently. Well Known Stage, television and film actor Mangesh Desai, has produced this film under the banner of Sahil Motion Pictures.

Puneet Balan as producer combine with Digpal Lanjekar as writer, National award winning director Prasad Oak as director and Ajay-Atul as music directors of this new film. The story of this film will revolve around this brave Woman Commander in chief of Maratha army during the period Shahu Maharaj in 18th century. Produced by Shiladitya Bora and directed by debutant Abhijeet Mohan Warang, ‘Picasso’ is an artistic Marathi film which was shown at few film festivals and which has now been released by Amazon Prime Video on OTT Platform. Set on the backdrop of a remote village from South Konkan region, the film focuses on a young seventh standard student Gandharva Pandurang Gawade( Samay Sanjeev Tambe). Gandharva who is selected for the Picasso Arts Scholarship at the National level, is required to pay a fee Rs. 1500/- to be eligible for the next level of competition.

With his mother(Ashwini Mukadam) already suffering from an ailment and father just able to manage the household expenses with petty jobs and performing in Dashavatari plays, it becomes difficult for the boy to manage the fees payable for competition. With the notice of paying the fees reaching the school late due to postal delay , the boy reaches the nearby village on the same day, where his father is performing. Though happy with this news, the father expresses his inability to raise this amount in short time. That night the boy spends his time watching the performance of his beloved father in the play. How this night brings the changes in the life of father and son, is what the film’s climax is all about.

Through this simple story of the boy, the film has also shown the importance of the folk art theatre in that region, where Dashavtar plays began in 12th century.  So, we get to see, how despite financial struggle and dependence on people’s patronage, these plays still exist in this region. Therefore, the film is a perfect tribute to all those performers, singers and musicians who are part of this folk art. The performances by Prasad Oak, Ashwini Mukadam , Child artiste Samay and other supporting cast are very natural and worth appreciating. Debutant director Abhijeet Mohan Warang has presented this film very well with the support of good folk music Anand Lunkad and decent photography by Stanley Mudda. Certainly, an artistic film with a difference.

Who will play the ‘Phulrani’ on Marathi big screen

‘Phulrani’ has been a very popular character over the years on Marathi stage. First it was late Bhakti Barve who presented this character on Marathi stage through the play ‘Ti Phulrani’ written by late P. L. Deshpande which was based on G.B. Shaw’s old famous English play ‘Pygmalion’. We had also seen an American Musical film ‘My Fair Lady’ also based on this English play. And now, Director Vishwas Joshi is all set to begin the shoot of a Marathi film ‘Phulrani …. Avismaraniya Premkahani’ which is also inspired by ‘Pygmalion’. This will be Vishwas Joshi’s second film as a director after ‘Whats App Lagna’.

Recently, the poster of this film was unveiled making official announcement of this film. This film will release its fragrance in theatres this year. The film’s story is written by Guru Thakur along with Vishwas Joshi, while lyrics are penned by Balkavi and Guru Thakur together. Nilesh Moharir will compose music of this film with cinematography by Kedar Gaikwad. Art direction by Santosh Phutane, editing by Guru Patil , choreography by Subhash Nakashe, dress design by Sayali Soman are the other credits of this film. New Marathi film ‘Mangalashtak Return’ highlights Divorce ceremony
