Prasad Oak to play title role of ‘Dharmaveer – Mu. Po. Thane’
Ever since the announcement of the film ‘Dharmaveer Mu. Po. Thane (धर्मवीर मु.पो. ठाणे)’ there was a lot of curiosity among people, as to who will play the title role Late Anand Dighe. But now, the curtain has been raised. It is now confirmed that Prasad Oak will be playing this title in this film, which will be presented by Zee Studios. To be directed by Praveen Vitthal Tarde, this film is produced by Mangesh Desai under his banner Sahil Motion Arts and Zee Studios together.
It may be recalled that Anand Dighe was a committed social worker and leader from Thane, who helped many poor and needy people fighting against injustice. Though he is not alive today, he remains in the hearts of several people from Thane. According to makers of this film, it was a big challenge to make a film on his life, but they have succeeded in their mission. This film on his life will now be released on 13th May all over Maharashtra.
Adinath Kothare to play ‘Daulat’ in ‘Chandramukhi’
Ever since the teaser of the film ‘Chandramukhi’ has been released, there has been curiosity to know who was playing the character of Daulat in this film, as the photo did not reveal the face clearly. Now, that curtain has been raised and the name of the actor has been announced as Adinath Kothare. ‘Chandramukhi’ is based on Vishwas Patil’s novel with the same name.
The film presents this strong character of Daulat Deshmane who as a leader was always there to help the people in need of justice. Produced by Akshay Bardapurkar, Planet Marathi, Golden Resho Films and presented by Creative Vibes productions, this film is directed by Prasad Oak with Screenplay and dialogues by Chinmay Mandlekar. According to the makers of this film, this film will be released in theatres.
Prasad Oak arriving with his next film ‘Chandramukhi’ on 29th April
Actor turned director Prasad Oak who offered quality films like ‘Kachha Limbu’ and ‘Hirakani’ is now arriving with his next big project ‘Chandramukhi’ on 29th April 2022. Teaser of this film was released recently, which indicated that it was a love story happening between An experienced politician and a glamorous Tamasha dancer. Surprisingly, the star cast of this film has been kept in abeyance till now.
Highlight of this film is that the music of this film is composed by Ajay Atul and therefore there are big expectations from this film, which is produced by Golden Resho films along with Planet Marathi and presented by Creative Vibe Productions and Flying Dragon Entertainment & Light Within Entertainment. ‘Chandramukhi’ is based on Vishwas Patil’s novel ‘Chandramukhi. ‘Dharmveer’ will be a biopic on the life of Anand Dighe
Inspired by the ideology of Late Balasaheb Thackeray , Anand Dighe had established himself as the most efficient Shiv Sena leader in Thane region. Now, there will a biopic on the life of Anand Dighe, suitably titled ‘Dharmaveer (धर्मवीर)’ motion poster of which was launched on social media recently. Well Known Stage, television and film actor Mangesh Desai, has produced this film under the banner of Sahil Motion Pictures.
This film is written and directed by ‘Deool Band (देऊळ बंद )’ [movie review], and ‘Mulshi Pattern (मुळशी पॅटर्न)’ [movie review] fame Pravin Tarde. Kedar Gaikwad is the cinematographer of this film. Till now, it is not known who will be playing the title role of Anand Dighe in this film. Auditions for this film were taken few days back and therefore there is a lot of curiosity to see who will be performing in this film. Shooting of this film has already begun in Thane
Johnny Lever to join ‘Hasyajatra’ on Sunday 18th July
After successfully starting some good TV programmes like ‘Ajunahi Barsat Aahe’ and ‘Kon Honar Karodpati’ this week, Sony Marathi are set to welcome Comedy King of Bollywood Johnny Lever to their Laughter show ‘Ravivaarchi Hasyajatra’ this Sunday 18th July . This programme will be telecast between 8 pm and 10 pm. It will be fun filled entertainment show with skits performed by popular artistes.
Johony Lever who was special invitee for this show, could not resist the temptation of shaking his legs on the dais. Johny was highly impressed watching all those skits and praised all the artistes for their performances. He specially appreciated the character of Lolly played by Namrata and was all praise for her performance.
Historical Marathi film ‘Bhadrakali’ announced
When her son was killed in battle, Umabai Dabhade carved her name as the first woman commander-in-chief of the Maratha army. Very little has been written about her in history books. But now, the bravery act of this great woman will come alive on big screen .Puneet Balan Studios have announced their big historical Marathi film ‘Bhadrakali’ on the occasion of Shiv Rajyabhishek Day on 6th June recently.
The launching of this film has brought together many renowned personalities together. Puneet Balan as producer combine with Digpal Lanjekar as writer, National award winning director Prasad Oak as director and Ajay-Atul as music directors of this new film. The story of this film will revolve around this brave Woman Commander in chief of Maratha army during the period Shahu Maharaj in 18th century. There is a lot of curiosity about the star cast of this film. But, the same will be disclosed by director Prasad Oak in his own style very soon. According to the makers, this film will be released in the year 2022.
Double celebration for Hansraj Jagtap
Hansraj Jagtap who made his debut as a child star with the Marathi film ‘Dhhag’ which won two National awards and also appreciation award for himself, later proved his acting skills as a teenager with films like ‘Ek Hota Pani’, ‘Re Raya’, ‘Itemgiri’, ‘ Yaari Dosti’, ‘Sur Sapata’ and others.
Now, his new film ‘Pranay Master’ is all set to release on 16th May on Shemaroo Marathi Bana at 12 noon with a World Premiere. Hansraj who comes from a Village in Beed district has a big fan following on social media. He himself made this announcement on social media, on the occasion of his birthday which was celebrated recently at his home. With the announcement of the World Premiere of his new film, this has turned out to be a double celebration for him.
This is Hansraj;s second film with award winning director Shivaji Loten Patil after ‘Dhhag’. Hansraj is playing the lead character besides Prasad Oak playing the title role.

Produced by Shiladitya Bora and directed by debutant Abhijeet Mohan Warang, ‘Picasso’ is an artistic Marathi film which was shown at few film festivals and which has now been released by Amazon Prime Video on OTT Platform. Set on the backdrop of a remote village from South Konkan region, the film focuses on a young seventh standard student Gandharva Pandurang Gawade( Samay Sanjeev Tambe). Gandharva who is selected for the Picasso Arts Scholarship at the National level, is required to pay a fee Rs. 1500/- to be eligible for the next level of competition.
With his mother(Ashwini Mukadam) already suffering from an ailment and father just able to manage the household expenses with petty jobs and performing in Dashavatari plays, it becomes difficult for the boy to manage the fees payable for competition. With the notice of paying the fees reaching the school late due to postal delay , the boy reaches the nearby village on the same day, where his father is performing. Though happy with this news, the father expresses his inability to raise this amount in short time. That night the boy spends his time watching the performance of his beloved father in the play. How this night brings the changes in the life of father and son, is what the film’s climax is all about.
Through this simple story of the boy, the film has also shown the importance of the folk art theatre in that region, where Dashavtar plays began in 12th century. So, we get to see, how despite financial struggle and dependence on people’s patronage, these plays still exist in this region. Therefore, the film is a perfect tribute to all those performers, singers and musicians who are part of this folk art. The performances by Prasad Oak, Ashwini Mukadam , Child artiste Samay and other supporting cast are very natural and worth appreciating. Debutant director Abhijeet Mohan Warang has presented this film very well with the support of good folk music Anand Lunkad and decent photography by Stanley Mudda. Certainly, an artistic film with a difference.
Who will play the ‘Phulrani’ on Marathi big screen
‘Phulrani’ has been a very popular character over the years on Marathi stage. First it was late Bhakti Barve who presented this character on Marathi stage through the play ‘Ti Phulrani’ written by late P. L. Deshpande which was based on G.B. Shaw’s old famous English play ‘Pygmalion’. We had also seen an American Musical film ‘My Fair Lady’ also based on this English play. And now, Director Vishwas Joshi is all set to begin the shoot of a Marathi film ‘Phulrani …. Avismaraniya Premkahani’ which is also inspired by ‘Pygmalion’. This will be Vishwas Joshi’s second film as a director after ‘Whats App Lagna’.
Recently, the poster of this film was unveiled making official announcement of this film. This film will release its fragrance in theatres this year. The film’s story is written by Guru Thakur along with Vishwas Joshi, while lyrics are penned by Balkavi and Guru Thakur together. Nilesh Moharir will compose music of this film with cinematography by Kedar Gaikwad. Art direction by Santosh Phutane, editing by Guru Patil , choreography by Subhash Nakashe, dress design by Sayali Soman are the other credits of this film. So far, the lead cast of this film has not been disclosed. And therefore, there is a lot of curiosity to know who will play the ‘Phulrani’ on Marathi big screen?
New Marathi film ‘Mangalashtak Return’ highlights Divorce ceremony
Recently, a video about a divorce ceremony being performed had become viral on social media. There was a big discussion going on among the viewers as to giving so much of importance to this kind of ceremony.
