Renowned veteran Marathi actor Ramesh Deo is no more. He passed away yesterday due to heart failure. He was 93. Ramesh Deo worked in 190 Marathi films and 285 Hindi films during his acting career of almost 65 years. He was the senior most Marathi actor who was active till 2019. Always cheerful, he attended many events, wherever he was invited and gave inspiring speeches.
Ramesh Deo had his own production company and produced Marathi films and TV serials. He also produced many advertisement films through his company. In January 2013, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 11th Pune International Film Festival (PIFF). Ramesh Deo married his former co star Seema and has two sons Ajinkya and Abhinay. Double celebration for ‘Jhimma’
Marathi film ‘Jhimma’ which was released on 19th November 2021 is celebrating 75 days successful celebration in theatres. At the same time, the film has also been released on OTT platform and is rated as one of the best entertaining films on Amazon Prime network. This was the only Marathi film which saw the success in theatres, in spite of the restriction of 50% attendance in cinema halls.
What is good about this film is that it has been offered keeping in mind the most important factor of pure entertainment. No wonder, on the 50th day of its theatre run, the film celebrated success in 90 cinema halls. The film has already made box office collection of Rs. 14.50 Crores. Moreover, the film has also inspired many women to plan their trips joining women groups.
Speaking about his film’s success, director Hemant Dhome says, “I am really thankful to the audience for making this film a super hit. During the past two years, we faced a lot of problems but finally we have witnessed the success.”
‘Thipkyanchi Rangoli’ celebrates 100 successful episodes
Popular Marathi serial ‘Thipkyanchi Rangoli’ on Star Pravah completed 100 episodes last week. Known for promoting the Joint happy family culture and set on the backdrop of Nashik city, this serial directed by Girish Mohite had invited very good response among home viewers in all age groups. This is mainly because of the representation of different age groups in the form of various characters played by combination of new and experienced talented artistes.
The highlight of celebrating the 100 episodes coincided with the marriage ceremony of the lead characters Shashank Kanitkar and Apoorva Vartak played by Chetan Wadnere and Dnyanada Ramtirthkar and the arrival of Apoorva’s mother Dr. Anjali from USA. The different rituals during the wedding also saw many guest appearances in the form of celebrities associated with other Marathi serials from Star Pravah.
The Marathi version of this entertaining serial is based on original Bengalee serial on this subject. Now, this serial is also made in other languages like Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada on television, which speaks about the popularity of Joint family culture even in today’s time.

Madhura Velankar Satam returns to television with a challenging role
Renowned Marathi stage- television and film actress Madhura Velankar Satam is back on small screen. This time she plays the mother of an 18 year old daughter, in the ongoing popular Marathi serial ‘Tumchi Mulgi Kaay Karte? (तुमची मुलगी काय करते?)’ which is aired on Sony Liv Marathi.
Talented, versatile actress that she is, Madhura has found this strong central character of Ms. Shraddha Mirajkar in this thrilling serial on a timely subject. The serial shows the concern of a mother- a school teacher, when she finds that her daughter has gone missing and is alleged to have been part of a rave party which has connection with people in drug business.
There is plenty of scope for Madhura in this serial, when she notices that both her husband and her daughter have lied to her about her daughter’s actual plans to attend the said party. Madhura faces the challenge to search her daughter and prove her not guilty. This is a well presented serial, but the overall 22 minutes time plus commercials every episode is too less for this thriller.
‘Vanilla, Strawberry and Chocolate’ now on Amazon Prime
Marathi film ‘Vanilla, Strawberry and Chocolate’ written and directed by Girish Vishwanath which was released in November 2018 received a very good response from critics. However, many Marathi film lovers could not watch this film. For them, this is the best opportunity to watch this film on OTT platform, instead of watching some crime filled films. This is the kind of film which you can watch with your family and especially children.
Set on the backdrop of Matheran the nearest hill station to Mumbai, the film revolves around a 10th standard local school girl Tejashree and a stray female dog, whom she names Vanilla. Vanilla lives in Tejashree’s school compound and therefore both of them develop a strong bonding for each other. Writer- Director Girish Vishwanath has captured the emotion filled scenes very well in the screenplay, generating interest among the audience.
Debutant Janaki Pathak has portrayed the lead role of teenager Tejashree with total commitment. No wonder, she will now be seen in a lead role in forthcoming Marathi film ‘Zombivali’ made by Aditya Sarpotdar. There are versatile artistes like Ravi Kale, Rajashree Nikam and Radhika Deshpande as her family members, who have offered very good support. Certainly, a worth watch film with the entire family.
‘Lochya Zaala Re’ trailer released in presence of artistes
Whatever may be the danger posed by Corona virus, but the Marathi film industry seems to have taken the ‘Show must go on’ approach. As we see reduction in cases, we find the events related to new films held with regular intervals taking due precautions. The makers of ‘Lochya Zaala Re (लोच्या झाला रे)’ released the trailer of their film recently, in presence of all artistes of the film.
‘Lochya Jhala Re’ is all set for release in theatres on 4th February 2022 and the film stars Ankush Choudhari, Siddharth Jadhav and Vaidehi Parshurami in lead roles. The film also stars Resham Tipnis, Sayaji Shinde, Vijay Patkar, and Prasad Khandekar in prominent roles.The story of this film is based on popular drama of Suresh Jayram with the same name. This is the first Marathi film by Navin Chandra of Mumbai Movie Studios and is directed by Hindi film writer Paritosh Painter, who is making his debut in direction through this film.
The trailer of this film is interesting but it remains to be seen whether it will draw good number of audience in theatres.
Teaser of ‘Vishu’ unveiled on social media
Teaser of forthcoming Marathi film ‘Vishu (विशु )’ was recently unveiled on social media. Directed by Mayur Madhukar Shinde the film stars Gashmir Mahajani in title role along with Mrunmayee Godbole, Eitasha Sanzgiri Manasi Mohile, Milind Pathak, Vijay Nikam and Sanjay Gurbakshani.
Produced by Babu Krishna Bhoir this film has been set on the backdrop of picturesque Konkan region and revolves around the lead character Vishu. According to the director, he really enjoyed working with the entire star cast of this film, who according to him are all versatile artistes. He feels that this unique love story between the lead pair with opposite nature, would interest the Marathi audience.
The story of this film is written by director Mayur Shinde himself while the screenplay and dialogues are by Rrishikesh Koli. Music by Hrishikest Mamerkar and lyrics by Mangesh Kagne are the other credits. Cinematography is by Mohit Jadhav
Another Song from the film ‘Panghroon’ unveiled
After releasing two songs from their film ‘Panghroon’ Mahesh Manjrekar and Zee Studios have unveiled another song ‘Saahvena Anuraag…’ recently, which has been rendered by Ketki Mategaonkar in her melodious voice. The song has been penned by Vaibhav Joshi with the music provided by Hitesh Modak. After presenting successful films like ‘Kaksparsh’ and ‘Natasamrat’, this is the third film offered by Mahesh Manjrekar and Zee Studios together.
Film ‘Panghroon’ which presents a so called unique love story, has been set on the backdrop of picturesque Konkan region during the pre independence era. The tagline of this film says ‘Once again an extra ordinary love story…’ . This film has already participated in the international film festivals and is directed by Mahesh Manjrekar. The film stars Amol Bawdekar, Gauri Ingawale, Rohit Phalke, Vidyadhar Joshi and Sulekha Talwalkar in lead roles. The film will be released on 4th February 2022,
Trailer of ‘Faas’ unveiled on social media
The dream of every father and mother is to see that their child achieves what they could not achieve. However, the makers of forthcoming Marathi film ‘Faas (फास)’ feel that the farmers are not able to dream big, as they are not able to provide the basic needs to their children. And this reality they would like to present through their film ‘Faas’ which is slated for release in all cinema houses in Maharashtra on 4th February 2022. The trailer of this film was unveiled recently on social media.
‘Faas’ has been presented by Maheshwari Patil Chakurkar of Maa Entertainmentand has been produced in collaboration with Naresh Patil, Pallavi Palkar, Dayanand Avrade, Basavraj Patil and Vaishali Paddevad jointly, with Avinash Kolte as the director. The film has already been appreciated at various national as well as international film festivals. The story as well as dialogues of ‘Faas’ have been penned by Maheshwari Patil Chakurkar, while Avinash Kolte has shouldered the responsibility of not only writing the screenplay but has also handling the direction of the film.
The national award winning versatile actor Upendra Limye will be seen playing a responsible police officer in the film which also stars Kamlesh Sawant as a farmer and Sayaji Shinde as a Doctor, besides actors like Pallavi Palkar, Ganesh Chandanshive, Namdeo Patil, Gyanesh Undgaonkar, Nilesh Bade, Umesh Rajhans, Sharad Kakde, Ishwar More, Pawan Vaidya, Vinay Joshi, Deva Pandey, Pooja Tayade, Tejaswini, Madhuri Bharti and Shrutika Londe.
