Mahesh Manjrekar unveils the poster of ‘Luckdown’
Poster of much awaited Marathi film ‘Luckdown (लकडाऊन)’ was recently unveiled by film maker Mahesh Manjrekar on the sets of ‘TV Show ‘Big Boss’, which is hosted by him. On this occasion, the entire team of ‘Luckdown’ was present. Mr. Manjrekar wished them luck. ‘Luckdown’ will be released during the new year on 28th January 2022 all over Maharashtra.

Starring Ankush Chaudhari and Prajakta Mali together for the first time, the poster of this film shows them as husband and wife. The entire shooting of this film was held Junnar at Kille Shivneri during the period of lockdown. Produced by Sharad Sonavane, Darshan Phulpagar, Ajit Sonpataki and Sagar Phulpagar, this film is directed by Santosh Manjrekar. Written by Ravindra Mathadhikari, the music of this film is composed by Avinash- Vishwajeet. Editing by Paresh Manjrekar, Choreography by Phulwa Khamkar and sound recording by Abhijit Deo, are other credits of this film.
Baburao song from the film ‘Ek Number’ becomes popular
Renowned Singer Anand Shinde‘s song ‘Baburao…’ from the film ‘Ek Number (एक नंबर )’ has become popular. Thanks to lyricist Jai Atre and music director Varun Likhate and director Milind Kavde. Earlier, the foursome had created the hit song ‘Tuzi Chimani Udali Bhurr…’ as well as ‘Aapla Haath Jagannath…’ which had turned out to be super duper hit.
The song ‘Baburao…’ has been picturised on Prathamesh Parab and Madhuri Pawar for which Rahul Sanjeer has cranked the cinematography. Madhuri who is the winner of the Zee Yuva Apsara Aali has acted in quite a few serials as well as films till date. The film ‘Ek Number’ has been produced by Mahesh Shivaji Dhumal, Jitendra Shivaji Dhumal and Milind Kavde under the banner of Dhumal Productions with the co-operation of Out of The Box and is slated for release on February 11th, 2022.
Talking about the song Baburao Milind Kavde says, “There is a great fan following for the voice of Anand Shinde all over the world. The innumerable people who love his songs will get mesmerised with his voice in the number ‘Baburao…’” Milind further adds that he is one hundred percent confident that the audience will dance to the tune of the song when it unfurls in his film.
Besides the lead pair of Prathamesh and Madhuri, actors like Milind Shinde, Ganesh Yadav, Nisha Parulekar, Abhilasha Patil, Ayli Ghiya, Hrishikesh Dhamapurkar, Akshata Padgaonkar, Pranali Sanghmitra Dhaware, Sumit Bokse, Sunil Magre, Harish Thorat, Aakash Koli have also performed in this film. Abhinay Jagtap has scored the background music, Pranav Patel has edited the film, while Hazrat Shaikh Wali is the DOP.
Director Shivaji Doltade’s film ‘Majnu’ to release soon
‘Majnu (मजनू )’ as the name suggests will be a love story to be offered by Director Shivaji Doltade early during the coming year. The shooting of this Marathi film produced by Sonai Film Creations is complete now. Recently, the Motion Poster and Poster launch of this film was held in Mumbai.
‘Majnu’ stars ‘Lagira Jhala Ji’ TV serial fame Nitish Chavan along with Rohan Patil and actress Svetlana Ahire in lead roles. The Grand poster of this film shows Nitish Chavan running along with Horses, while Rohan and Swetlana are seen together. The film also stars Suresh Vishwakarma, Milind Shinde, Arbaaz Shaikh, Pranav Raorane, Aditi Sarangdhar, Madhavi Juvekar and Bhakti Chavan in important roles.
According to the director, this film is set on the backdrop of a semi urban sector and will be a suspense filled film. With music by P. Shankaram, Sachin Avaghade, Sajan- Vishal, the songs in this film have been rendered by Aadarsh Shinde, Sandeep Ubale, Bela Shende, Aanandi Joshi, Vishal Chavan and Indian Idol fame Salman Ali. DOP M.B. Allikatti, art direction Mahesh Kore are the other credits.
Pravin Tarde to play Sarsenapati Hambirrao Mohite
With the reopening of cinema halls after a long time period, Marathi films are now releasing in cinema halls. There are many films lines up for release and one such film is ‘Sarsenapati Hambirrao (सरसेनापती हंबीरराव)’ which is written and directed by Pravin Vitthal Tarde. Recently, the teaser of this film was unveiled on social media. This teaser gives an idea of this historical film which has been shot with lots of action filled scenes with powerful dialogues.
The teaser has also revealed the important artistes playing the historical characters. While Gashmeer Mahajani plays the role of Shiv Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Pravin Tarde plays the title role of Sarsenapati Hambirrao Mohite. Produced by Urvita Productions , Shekhar Mohite, Soujanya Nikam and Dharmendra Bora and presented by Sandeep Mohite Patil, this most eagerly awaited film will be released very soon all over Maharashtra.
Sujay Dahake is in search for Shyam for his next film ‘Shyamchi Aai’
Whenever there is a mention of Shyamchi Aai, we tend to remember the faces of Shyam and his mother played by little Madhav Vaze and actress Vanmala respectively in National award winning 1953 Marathi film ‘Shyamchi Aai’ . This film directed by Acharya Atre was based on the emotion filled story of Sane Guruji. Now, Sujay Dahake, who won the National award for his debut film ‘Shaala’ has also announced the film with the same title and has also released the poster of this film, which is also based on the Sane Guruji’s best selling novel.

Sujay has decided to make this film in Black and White and will be showcasing the pre-independence era. He and his team are presently busy searching statewide the right Maharashtrian boy to essay the character of Shyam in the film. This film will be produced by Amruta Arun Rao and will be directed by Sujay Dahake. They have also made a publicity brochure requesting for boys in the age group of 8 to 12 to perform a one minute monologue and email or WhatsApp it after recording on their mobile phones to the following email and phone number. Parents of the kids are requested to abide by the conditions set by the production company.
The last date for sending the video is December 30, 2021, after which the contest will come to an end. Out of the contestants, the production company will shortlist ten boys. They will be transported to Mumbai and asked to participate in a three-day acting workshop. Finally, one boy among the ten will be selected to play the role of Shyam in the film. The production company will notify the parents directly. ‘Karkhanisanchi Waari’ takes you on a humour filled road journey

Produced by Archana Borhade and co produced by Zulfi waris ( ABP Studios) ‘Karkhanisanchi Waari (कारखानिसांची वारी)’ is the latest Marathi film released on OTT platform –Sony Live. With script written by Archana Borhade and Mangesh Joshi and directed by ‘Lathe Joshi’ fame director Mangesh Joshi, this film revolves around Karkhanis joint family living in Pune.
After the death of head of this family (Pradeep Velankar), his close relatives after performing his last rites are on a road trip to Pandharpur via their ancestral house to immerse his ashes , as per his last wish. Five of them namely, brothers - Dr. Mohan Agashe, Pradeep Joshi, Ajit Abhyankar , sister- Geetanjali Kulkarni and son – Om ( Amey Wagh) are on their journey, travelling in their Omni- traveller . They are followed on her motor bike by Om’s girlfriend Madhura ( Mrunmayee Deshpande), who wants Om to disclose their relationship to his close relatives, as early as possible.
While this group is on their way to Pandharpur, the widow played by Vandana Gupte has other plans to meet her financial requirements. She takes another route to settle a score with mistress of her late husband, who lives in another town close to Pune. As writers, director and producers both Archana Borhade and Mangesh Joshi have focussed more on highlighting attitude of each important character existing in today’s materialistic world. They have presented this film in a funny way, to make the screenplay interesting. Happening of humour filled events during their journey and simultaneously showing the developments to unfold the mysterious life of the deceased have been captured very well. The interaction between Vandana Gupte and Shubhangi Gokhale has been presented very well.
The highlight of this film are the performances by all the artistes in important roles. They are so natural that sometimes you feel as if you are travelling along with them. Writer- producer Archana Borhade has also done her main job as a cinematographer extremely well while presenting the emotions of each one of the artistes in close up scenes, besides capturing their humour filled sequences in the outdoor. No wonder, this universal subject representing every age group well presented through this film, has invited the attention of film critics from different parts of the world, wherever the film was screened. Above all, this film has bagged one of the five best films’ award at Tokyo International film festival. This itself is a very good news for Marathi cinema.
Certainly a worth watch film for all. Don’t miss it.

Shrikant Sathe ( Swwapnil Joshi) a widower takes his seven year old son Mandar ( Samarth Jadhav) to a hospital , after his son faints on the cricket ground during a match. At this hospital, during his medical diagnosis, Mandar comes across Bhaskar a boy of his age, who is undergoing treatment for cancer. It is at this place Mandar learns about a mystery woman Elizabeth, from Bhaskar. Like Bhaskar, Mandar also starts believing that Elizabeth who lives in the next old building in the hospital campus, would only cure his ailment.
Mandar reveals the secret of Elizabeth to his father and insists that he should meet her. To make his son happy, Shrikant goes in search of Elizabeth in the adjacent building and discovers something strange. In the meanwhile Dr. Alisha Shenoy ( Pooja Sawant) who attends Mandar in the hospital, in absence of her ailing father, gets ready for Mandar’s operation. It is at this stage, Shrikant discovers the mystery behind Elizabeth and involvement of people in her case.
‘Bali’ (बळी) as the name suggests, does succeed in presenting a gripping screenplay, but there are few flaws in the film. However, the efforts taken by director Vishal Furia to present this suspense filled thriller under the cover of horror, are worth appreciating. Above all, the performances by Swwapnil, Pooja and little Samarth certainly add extra strength to this film with the support of good cinematography by Rajan Sohani and suitable background music by Rajan Patnail and Brince Bora.
For a change, ‘Bali’ is a worth watch film, provided you are not watching this film with very high expectations from this director. Produced by Arjun Singgh Baran and Kartik Nishandar this film Is released on Amazon Prime Video.
Marathi Web Series ‘Anuradha’ on OTT Platform
Recently there was a lot of talk about ‘Lipstick’ on social media. But now, it has come to notice that it was a part of promotion of new Marathi web series ‘Anuradha’ directed by Sanjay Jadhav. This is Sanjay’s first web series and therefore there is a lot of curiosity about this seven part web series which has been released on Planet Marathi OTT and Vistas Media Capital. This web series stars Tejaswini Pandit, Sonalee Khare, Sukanya Kulkarni Mone, Sachit Patil, Sushant Shelar, Vidyadhar Joshi, Snehalata Vasaikar, Sanjay Khapre, Aastaad Kale, Vijay Andalkar, Chinmay Shintre, Vrushali Chavan in lead roles.
The poster and teaser of this web series was held recently in presence of artistes and crew of this film. Produced by Hiralal Dafda and Aakash Dafda the script is written by Sanjay Jadhav and Vaibhav Chinchalkar. With music by Pankaj Padgham, the editing of this series is done by Apoorva Motiwale Sahay and art direction by Satish Chipkar. According to Planet Marathi OTT Chief, Akshay Bardapurkar, this web series is a suspense thriller. Director Sanjay Jadhav who is making his debut as a director in web series, is also excited to know, how the audience would respond to his work on a web series platform.
