Apurva Shelgaonkar to play lead role in film ‘Free Hit Danka’
SGM Films have recently released Teaser Poster of their new Marathi film ‘Free Hit Danka’, which will present the combination of Love and Friendship. The poster of this film has clearly revealed the name of leading lady of this film. She is ‘Yuntum’ fame actress Apurva Shelgaonkar. Apart from her the names of two other artistes namely ‘Sairat’ fame pair of Arbaaz and Tanaji, who will be seen in important roles. The film is written and directed by Sunil Magare.
Interestingly, the makers of this film haven’t revealed the name of lead hero of this film. While the screenplay is written by director himself, the dialogues and lyrics are written by Sanjay Navgire. The music of this film is composed by Baban Adagale and Ashok Kamble, while cinematography is by Veerdhaval Patil. The film is produced by Atul Ramchandra Tarde, Aakash Bapu Thombre, Umesh narke, Prasad Shetty and Sunil Magre. Sudhakar Lokhande and Nitin Bapu Kharat are executive producers.
Veteran Marathi actor Ravi Patwardhan is no more
Popular veteran Marathi actor Ravi Patwardhan is no more. He passed away due to heart failure yesterday night at his residence in Thane. He was 83. He is survived by his wife, sons, daughters in law, daughter, son in law and grandchildren. Born on 6th September 1937 Ravi Patwardhan had a long career in acting and remained active through ongoing Marathi serial ‘Agabai Sasubai’. He had only taken a break from shooting, due to spread of corona virus.
Ravi Patwardhan began his acting career while he was in Reserve Bank and took part in Inter Bank Drama Competitions, inviting the attention of many Commercial Drama producers and film makers during that period. He performed in 150 plays and more than 200 Marathi and Hindi films. Recently, he had become very popular with his role of grandfather through the ongoing serial ‘Agabai Sasubai’. After hearing the sad news of his death, Many prominent personalities from different fields have expressed their deep condolences to his family members.
Seminar to review changing scenario of Marathi plays
At present Marathi plays are going through a bad time . But, with the improving situation we can look forward to a changing scenario with audience returning to drama theatres. Though announcement has been made by our Government to reopen drama theatres soon, there is no movement noticed to see the rehearsals prior to the shows or booking of shows. Uncertainty still hangs over return of audience to the theatres. In short, the right mood is to be created.
Perhaps, taking this situation into account, Vinay Apte Pratishthan and ‘Jagatik Marathi Natyadharmi Nirmata Sangh’ have arranged a seminar in the form of Group Discussion on 7th December 2020 which coincides with death anniversary of Late Vinay Apte. This group discussion will be held @ 6 pm on this day at Madame Cama Hall, Savarkar Smarak , Dadar. This seminar is open only to invitees and participants like Vijay Kenkre, Vandana Gupte, Shrirang Godbole, Sunil Barve, Prajakta Deshmukh, Abhijit Jhunjjarrao will be part of this seminar. Muhurat of Ankush Chaudhari & Prajakta Mali starrer film ‘Luck Down’
From the third month of this year 2020 we have been witnessing lock down restrictions due to spread of corona virus. And now, the year is coming to an end next month. But soon, we are expecting a change. The Marathi film industry which had come to almost a halt is gearing up slowly with resumption of shooting schedules and reopening of cinema halls. Even the launching of new films are in progress. Recently, Ishnav Media House and producer Darshan Fulpagar launched the muhurat of their film ‘Luck Down’ which is expected to bring a big hope in the coming year, as indicated through its title.
The muhurat was performed in Junnar in presence of the lead pair of the film Ankush Chaudhari and Prajakta Mali, the makers technical staff and the dignitaries comprising of Shri Dada Sonavane, Satyasheel Sherkar, Ganesh Kawde, Shyam Panduye & Yuvraj Mohite. It will be the first time Ankush and Prajakta will be performing together and therefore there are big expectations from them. The film will be directed by Santosh Ramdas Manjrekar, who had earlier directed films like ‘Bedhadak’, ‘Surajya’ and ‘Mee Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy’.
New Marathi Web Series ‘Baykola Hava Tari Kay’ from 4th December
After presenting successful Marathi web series, MX Player are now all set to present another Marathi Web Series ‘Baykola Hava Tari Kay’ from 4th December 2020. Recently trailer of this series was released on social media giving a clear indication that it will be an entertaining comedy. This six part series is directed by Priyadarshan Jadhav. Speaking about this series, Priyadarshan says, “Everybody wants to upgrade himself or herself in life by acquiring new things. When you try to upgrade your better half, what happens in the process, is what this series is all about . I am sure the audience will enjoy it.”
Shreya Bugde plays a typical middle class housewife, who wants to upgrade her husband ( Aniket Vishwasrao) as per her wish and hence prays to Lord Krishna( Played by Nikhil Ratnaparakhi) every time, whenever there is a need. This is what we get to see in the trailer. Speaking about her character, Shreya says, “I am playing a simple housewife, who always desires herself and her husband to have the best things in life. And whenever the God showers his blessings upon me, you will get to see something that will surely entertain you all.”

Pooja Sawant to Judge for ‘Maharashtra’s Best Dancer’ on Sony Marathi
‘Maharashtra’s Best Dancer’ reality show is all set to begin on Sony Marathi Channel from 30th November at 9 pm on Mondays and Tuesdays. The highlight of this show is that top Marathi actress Pooja Sawant will be the Judge for this programme along with Dharmesh Sir. It may be recalled that Pooja Sawant who has reached the popularity heights now, had made her beginning with a dance show on Sony TV through the reality show Boogie Woogie.
Both Pooja and Dharmesh Sir were part of this Boogie Woogie show in the year 2008 . While Dharmesh Sir had won this competition, Pooja was among the Top 5 participants of this show. Later, both of them made progress in their respective fields. And, we are all aware of Pooja’s progress in both Marathi as well as Hindi films. Now, both Pooja and Dharmesh Sir will be seen in the role of Judges. This will be a good combination as both of them have earned good name in this filed.
‘Natsamrat’ to hit the Big Screens once again
Some films are memorable and can be seen again and again. Marathi film ‘Natasamrat‘ (read review) is one of them. The makers of this film are all set to release this film once again at Single screens and multiplexes from Friday 27th November 2020. An official announcement has been made, after watching the reopening of cinema halls after a long period of lock down due to spread of corona virus. It may be recalled that the film had done a good business of Rs. 50 Cr. At the box office, when it was released in January 2016.
The film depicts the tragic family life of a stage actor Ganpat Ramchandra Belwalkar, who has retired from acting but is unable to forget his fond memories of theatre and the stage. Versatile actor Nana Patekar had put in his heart to portray this difficult role on the big screen. And he received very good response from other artistes like Vikram Gokhale, Medha Manjrekar and others. In addition to this Mahesh Manjrekar’s direction added that special flavour to this original story penned by V.V. Shirwadkar.
By releasing this film once again in cinema theatres, the presenters have taken a good decision to invite the film lovers to the theatres once again. But, it all remains to be seen how the people would respond to this offer.
‘Law of Love’ to be released in theatres on 9th April 2021
After the long lockdown period, now we are hearing the news about Marathi films finalising the dates for release of their films. But, it will be only in the new year 2021. Till then, we are finding the promotional news of all these films on social media. One such film is ‘Law of Love’ from Producer – Actor J. Uday, which is directed by C.S. Nikam. Two new faces would be available to Marathi film arena through this film. This film presented by Vedika Films Creation will be released all over Maharashtra on the 9th April 2021. The announcement has been made through all social media handles of the film.
According to the makers of this film who have chosen this unusual title, they have presented a story which is out of the box. The Marathi film lovers will also find a fresh lead pair of J. Uday and Shalvi Shah. Seasoned actors like Mohan Joshi, Yatin Karyekar, Anil Nagarkar and actress Prachi Palwe will also be seen in other lead roles. The story, screen play and production are by J. Uday. The dialogues have been written by J. Uday and Makarand Lingnurkar. P. Shankaram has set the songs penned by Murad Tamboli, P Shankaram and Nilesh Kotke to lilting tunes. The songs have been rendered by P. Shakaram, Mugdha Inamdar and Radhika Atre.
The film has been shot at Mumbai, Kudal and Kolhapur . Cinematography by Manjunath Nayak, Editing by Manish Shirke, Art by Satish Bidkar, Dances by Taj Khan, Action by Dev Raj, Sound design by Dinesh Ucchil and Shantanu Akerkar (D Super Sound).are the other credits.
